Stop Blushing

Finding the causes behind the tendency to blush is important when you want to stop blushing. Efforts to quit the natural flush response often lead to more reddening as a natural response. Your anti-blush efforts can actually work against you in some situations.

Blush Responses

Blush response symptoms are readily apparent and quite difficult to disguise. The physical reactions can be felt as they can be seen. Many people experience a sudden redness to the ears, neck and face. You may feel tingly sensations flood, and sometimes the flush of colour occurs on your chest and neck as well.

The physical sensations of an oncoming blush may make you feel quite anxious, especially if there is no logical reason for the reddening response. You may feel heart palpitations, trembling and sweating as a natural response to anxiousness.

Part of the stress is due to the simple fact that blushing is automatic and seemingly involuntary. This makes trying to stop turning red on a conscious level nearly impossible. As you think about stopping the flush of colour, the more likely you are to turn red.

The sympathetic nervous system is deeply involved in the flush of colour in the face, neck and ears. The capillaries automatically expand, sending more blood to the surface of the skin. This leads to the telltale change of colour.

You can stop blushing in spite of the automatic nature of the response. Consider that animals never blush; this is due to the fact that the response is directly linked to our thought processes. As we change the thinking patterns, our physical responses follow suit.

While it may seem impossible to stop blushing, it’s really not. The flush of colour that floods over your face, ears and neck happens automatically. However, you do have some control over the process—on a subconscious level. You can quit turning red after you work through the underlying reasons for the blush.

Self-Consciousness

Self-consciousness can be very problematic, especially when you worry in excess. Social interactions are challenging when you become anxious about a blush response. This leads to an inward pattern of thought.

When your thoughts turn inward, they begin to cut you off from your surroundings. You begin to feel anxious, nervous and unable to interact appropriately. The belief that you will blush leads to blushing.

Natural Blush Response

Blush responses are completely natural but they are akin to humans. Animals do not blush. This is because the response is a result of thinking patterns. Thoughts lead to emotions that have natural physical consequences.

You can readily see the consequences in your face. The blood flow increases to the neck, ears and face, turning your skin red. When you are self-conscious about the possibility of blushing, you become anxious. The anxiousness causes physical responses that lead you to blush

Stop Blushing: Self Hypnosis To Help With Blushing

Self Hypnosis To Stop Blushing

In private practice I am called upon pretty much every week to help one of more people to stop blushing, usually successfully. If you aren’t a ‘serial blusher’ you probably don’t appreciate what a crippling condition excessive blushing can be for a person.

Some People Blush Repeatedly

Some people blush repeatedly through the day and live in constant fear of virtually any kind of social interaction. Other blush when they are ‘on the spot' so to speak, when they are suddenly called upon to contribute something to a meeting, when it’s their turn to tell a joke at a dinner party, or even when they are suddenly surprised to meet a friend in the street.

The Fear Of Blushing

It is, of course, the fear of blushing that causes this, and time and time again I have worked with people to get them to stop worrying about blushing in advance. For everyone who blushes excessively will tend to fear blushing in advance, to imagine being embarrassed and going red ahead of time. When you stop them imagining being embarrassed, the problem stops, it’s usually that simple.

Hypnosis To Stop Blushing

There are countless hypnotherapy, or ‘hypnosis’ techniques that have proved to be successful in getting someone to stop blushing so much, and a hypnotherapist, a good hypnotherapist that is, will have a whole range of things he or she can do to help.

The Woman Who Wouldn’t Stop Blushing

When I work one-to-one with someone to help them with this issue I use a combination of NLP and hypnotherapy to train them to be in control of their imagination, and also to recondition the response at a more ‘unconscious’ level. This usually works.

But not always ...

I once saw a woman who had a most unusual blushing pattern. Often, she could stand up and give presentations to hundreds of people and not blush, and not even think about it. Then sometimes, she would meet someone by the coffee machine and blush. If you blush too much then you will appreciate how unusual this is, most people who blush excessively would be terrified at the prospect of speaking in front of a small group of people, let alone hundreds.

I did what I usually did

And it didn’t work. I can often get someone to stop blushing, excessive blushing anyway, in one or two sessions. The very least I tend to get is a substantial reduction in the reddening response. Not this time, though. So I thought, ‘what else can I do’, and then I did something so simple and straightforward that worked immediately and amazed us both.

The Control Panel Of The Mind

She wasn’t in a deep trance, just lightly relaxed, and I said to her ... ‘Go into the control room of your mind, just make it up, the control room can look like anything you want it to, make it look comfortable. On one of the walls see a big dial, like the dial on the safe, and see the numbers on the dial going from one to one hundred. See that the pointer is set at ‘fifty’ because right now the skin tone on your face is about average. Now, when you reach out and turn the dial up, notice that your face will get redder and redder. Fifty, click, fifty one, click, fifty two...'

And she sat there and by the time she got to sixty five her face was bright red

‘Good’, I said, ‘notice that you can control the blushing response. Now count down, sixty four, click, sixty three, click’ and so forth. By the time we got back to ‘fifty’ her face had a normal ‘skin tone’. We even went down to ‘forty’ and she became paler and paler. It only took a few moments. Then we went back up and down the scale a few times and I watched her go red, then go to ‘normal’ repeatedly. Then she did it with her eyes open. The she went to the bathroom and did it in front of the mirror. It was amazing to watch someone calmly having that much control over their neurology.

It totaly sorted her blushing problems

Self Hypnosis Recordings For Blushing

If you are a hypnotherapist you probably won’t be surprised by someone’s capacity to do this kind of thing, after all, this kind of ‘device’ is commonly used to get someone to stop blushing. Some will use a visualization of a thermometer, some will use imagery of being ‘cool’, the best will use a host of techniques to help someone put an end to their blushing problems for good Stop Blushing by hypnotherapist and NLP Trainer Debbie Williams is an excellent example of an effective multi-layered approach to this problem and uses both Neuro-linguistics and self hypnosis to retrain your mind to be more relaxed and more at ease with yourself. Stop Bushing is also avaiable in the UK and it is fully guaranteed to help you.
