Fighting Holiday Stress with NLP

What’s the worst thing about the holidays? Stress. Stress can even ruin a holiday such as Christmas for people. Holiday stress is something that affects many people. Something about a busy holiday season impacts a lot of people negatively. They can be filled with anxiety, feel jittery, have problems with sleep, and often feel panic in the pit of their stomach. Why are holidays so stressful and what can you do about it? Can NLP help?

Holiday Stress

Stress can happen as a triggered response based on previous experience. Knowing how busy you’ll be over the Christmas holidays is often enough to set you into a panic attack. You might even have childhood memories that cause stress at the holidays. Before you think about coping, you’re thinking about stress and that can make the situation and your reaction to it worse.

Financial woes, time constraints, shopping, house cleaning, dealing with relatives, and all the extra work can make it difficult to enjoy the holiday season. Some people get very depressed every December. There are a number of things you can do to help you cope better over the holiday. You can work at reducing stress, yes. But certain amounts of pressure are bound to exist. Instead of hoping that you can fight stress with deep breathing and counting to ten, NLP helps you look at your situation differently by changing how you react to what could be a stress trigger for you. Stress is bound to exist. How we react to it is what’s most important.

NLP and Holiday Stress

Neuro linguistic programming can be a great method for helping you react differently and more constructively to stress. It might not be possible for you to remove the stress in your life. Holidays still happen. Relatives still come over. You still have to buy and wrap and pay for all of those gifts. The way you react to the pressure is within your control and self hypnosis / NLP can make a dramatic difference.

Where to Get Help With Stress

Sure, relaxation and breathing exercises can help. Instead of just trying to count to ten when you feel anxious, try listening to a self help recording related to stress or consider attending a session with a trained hynotherapist

Relief from Stress, by Duncan McColl is available as an MP3 download or a CD. More information on stress and NLP are available on the JustBeWell.com site as well.

Overcome Insomnia with Recordings

A lot of people who have insomnia, think they need to take sleeping pills to help them overcome it. While it’s true that sleeping pills can help, they may not be necessary. Very often, the fear of not sleeping is the biggest cause of insomnia.

There are many reasons for sleep issues but many of them can easily be dealt with by helping you change your thought patterns with respect to falling asleep. Many insomniacs have this disorder but exacerbate the condition because the very prospect of sleep becomes so stressful that they lower their chances of a restful and easy sleep because the anticipation of bedtime and the fear of another sleepless night works them into a frenzy.

Symptoms of Insomnia

A lot of people have problems falling asleep from time to time. Maybe you’ve had too much coffee or aren’t feeling well. Perhaps you’ve had a rotten day at work or your entire sleeping patterns have been “off” due to shift changes or lifestyle changes. Stress can put a big damper on your life as well because you may run yourself ragged all day long and then when you finally lay down to rest, insomnia happens because suddenly your mind is going a million miles per hour at the thought of what didn’t get done today, what needs to be done tomorrow, and so on.

But the occasional rough night isn’t what most people would classify as being insomnia or a sleep disorder. A Sleep disorder tends to be repetitive. Insomnia sufferers often have problems getting to sleep every night. Perhaps you have trouble falling asleep. Perhaps your problem is in staying asleep for the entire night. Maybe it’s even a combination of the two.

Self Help Insomnia Recordings

Can recordings help you fall asleep? They can help you fall asleep and they can help you stay asleep as well. NLP or neuro linguistic programming can help you change thought patterns so that you can train your brain to allow you to fall asleep more easily. We can develop habits that make insomnia worse, such as panicking about the bedtime ritual. Recordings that use NLP therapy can help your brain and your body relax at bedtime instead of getting filled with anxiety.

What About One on One Help?

One on one help with a trained therapist and / or hypnotherapist might also be helpful. Perhaps beyond your bedtime routine, there are other issues that are making getting to sleep or staying asleep difficult. Uncovering the reasons behind the sleep disorder can help you change it.

JustBeWell and SelfHelpRecordings can help you to learn more about potential insomnia cures so that you can be able to fall asleep and stay asleep for a decent 8 hours without sleeping pills.
